Granville Volunteer Fire Department

Proudly serving Granville and the surrounding communities since 1951.

What do we respond to?

The GVFD, like many fire departments, has evolved into an all hazards response team. This means we will be called to any manner of incident from down power lines, flooding, fires of all kinds including illegal burns, HAZ-MAT incidents, car accidents, and anything else that potentially threatens life or property. We also respond to service calls to check chimneys,  carbon-monoxide detectors and/or smoke detectors before an emergency occurs.

Depending on the nature and severity of the call, an officer might respond directly to the scene with a personnel vehicle, one or two fire apparatus might respond with only a few people, all four of our apparatus might respond with all available personnel, or multiple departments and many personnel might respond.

Mutual Aid

Granville VFD has standing mutual aid agreements with Hancock, Warren, Rochester, and Waitsfield Fire Departments as well as Mad River Valley Ambulance. These contracts, in their simplest terms, state: if you call us we will come. whether that be Granville responding to other towns, or vice  versa.
